Provides direct clinical and administrative supervision to a unit of post adoption specialists within the Foster Care and Adoption (FC&A) u2013 Resource and Support program. Directs staff in the negotiation of adoption agreements and the provision of post adoption funds and services. Instructs staff on policies, laws, and best practices related to post adoption services, placement issues, supporting adoptive families, child abuse and neglect, trauma, normalcy, separation and loss, and family dynamics. Works with public and private providers of services. Assists staff in assessing children and families and occasionally is called upon to testify in court. Manages the unit resources, staff activity, and workload assignments for best results. Insures deadlines for paperwork and payments are met on a consistent basis. Monitors unit work activity and compliance with legal and contractual requirements using computer software applications and case records reviews. Works with peer supervisors and program manager in defining programmatic goals, priorities, and objectives. Interprets and assesses the implications and long-term consequences of new policies, laws, and procedures on client services. Establishes and maintains working relationships with public and private providers of service in the community. Serves in a leadership role in the Foster Care and Adoption - Resource and Support program. Serves as an expert related to post adoption policies and services. Represents Fairfax and serves in state and local workgroups. Carries a reduced caseload. Manages all audits related to post adoption services.
Note: Flexible schedule is required. Must carry a cellular phone after hours to respond to emergencies. Some travel out of the area is required for this position.
