These positions are located in the Gum Springs Community Center at 8100 Fordson Road, Alexandria, the James Lee Community Center at 2855-A Annandale Road, Falls Church and at the Mott Community Center at 12111 Braddock Road in Fairfax.  This announcement may also be used to fill future Park/Recreation Specialist III positions at other Regional Service Centers in the county.

Plans, develops, implements, manages, and evaluates outcome-based inclusive recreation programs, educational and lifelong-learning programs, technology programs, health and wellness programs, fitness classes, community service projects, volunteer programs, community outings, and special events for youth and families to address identified trends, needs, and interests. Supervises and administers a comprehensive set of programs and services that promotes inclusive practices providing services to youth of all ability levels. Hires, trains, coaches, and supervises merit and part-time staff and coordinates volunteers. Provides the highest quality of customer service to Fairfax County residents living in the community. Performs administrative tasks related to facility management, financial management, personnel management and risk management. Obtains equipment and supplies; and executes programs policies, procedures, marketing, and program calendars. Conducts outreach and recruitment to connect youth and families to programs and services. Supports community outreach by assisting in the development of partnerships with community, non-profit, and faith-based organizations. Works as a member of the regional team to implement county-wide projects and activity strategies focused on obtaining specific outcomes for youth and families and reducing at risk behavior. Collaborates with residents, community organizations, across NCS Centers and Business Areas, and with other county agencies in support of the NCS Mission. This position works under the direction of the Service Area Manager.

Community centers and neighborhood sites are open six days a week and operate during day, night and weekend hours. Staff typically rotate day, night and weekend schedules with members of their regional team.
