The Town of Vienna and Historic Vienna, Inc. will ring in the merriest season of the year at the annual Church Street Holiday Stroll from 6-9 p.m. Monday, November 27.

Listen as school choruses and strolling carolers harmoniously welcome the holiday season. Enjoy roasting marshmallows and activities at various historic facilities. And catch a glimpse of the jolly ol’ elf himself as he arrives at about 6:15 atop a 1946 fire truck. Santa will magically light the Town tree and caboose before making his way to the Freeman Store to listen to the wishes of good boys and girls – and allow their parents to snap a photo.

Church Street merchants will remain open, offering specials and activities. Many historic structures will be open throughout the evening as well, including the Freeman Store and Museum, Little Library, caboose, train station, Knights of Columbus (formerly First Baptist Church), and Vienna Presbyterian’s historic chapel. Vienna Presbyterian is hosting an array of free activities including a carol sing-a-long in the chapel, elf dinner in the Great Hall, ongoing drama presentations in the main sanctuary, a craft for children, and popcorn in the outdoor courtyard. The Town will host a petting zoo.

Groups expected to perform on stage throughout the evening include Fairfax Jubil-Aires, Green Hedges School Jazz Band, Louise Archer Elementary Singers, Thoreau Chamber Choir, Vienna Community Band, and Wolftrap Elementary Singers. Strolling carolers will feature members of the Fairfax Jubil-Aires and Vienna-Falls Chorus of Sweet Adelines.

Church Street from Mill to Dominion will be closed beginning at 4 p.m. and from Mill to Lawyers Road from 5-9 p.m. A portion of Mill Street may be closed for event activities as well. Traffic will be redirected around the event.
