Twice a year, the Town of Vienna rolls up its collective sleeves and spends a morning cleaning around the community – at the Town Green and along several creeks. The next Town Clean-Up Day is scheduled for Saturday, November 3, and, as always, volunteers are needed.

Scouts, church and service groups, and schools help Town staff pick up trash, remove invasive plants, and generally spruce up designated areas.

“Community service is alive and well in Vienna,” says John King, the Town’s parks maintenance superintendent. “It brings a closeness – volunteers get to know our staff, and we get to know them. There’s a lot of bonding when you’re expending elbow grease together.”

Those interested in volunteering for the November 3 Town Clean-Up Day, should contact King at john.king@viennava.gov. King recommends that volunteers wear pants and long sleeves, no matter how warm the day, and bring along trash pickers if they have them. The Town will supply gloves, trash bags, and other equipment.

Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at the Town Green. Clean-Up Day is a rain or shine event.
