Three Killed, Four Injured in Spotsylvania County Crash

Virginia State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash in Spotsylvania County that has claimed three lives and injured four others. The crash occurred Sunday at 2:55 p.m. in the 6200 block of Courthouse Road.

A 2002 Honda Accord was traveling west on Courthouse Road when it ran off of the right shoulder. The driver over-corrected, which caused the Honda to cross the center-line, and collide with an eastbound 2012 Acura MDX.

The driver of the Honda, Denia A. Brizuela-Pascual, 22, of Woodbridge, Va., was transported to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Brizuela-Pascual was wearing a seat belt.

Three of the Honda’s four passengers died at the scene: Ana D. Pascual, 32, of Woodbridge, Va., a 12 year old female, and a 10 month old male. The fourth passenger, a juvenile female, was flown to VCU Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The adult, and juveniles were in seat belts and the infant was properly secured in a child safety restraint.

The driver of the Acura, a 58-year-old male of Fairfax, Va., and a passenger, a 55-year-old female of Fairfax, Va., were transported to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The Virginia State Police Culpeper Division’s Crash Reconstruction Team is assisting with the ongoing crash investigation. The Spotsylvania County Fire and EMS, Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office and VDOT assisted state police at the scene.
