UPDATED: Hit-Run Driver Sought in Beltway Motorcycle Crash

Virginia State Police have released the identity of a motorcyclist killed in a three-way Beltway collision Tuesday. Eric A. Khaliqi, 47, of Alexandria, Va., died at the scene of the accident. He was wearing a helmet.

Trooper B.C. Damian said the crash occurred July 9, 2019 at 7:15 a.m. on the westbound Interstate 495 ramp leading to southbound Interstate 95 at the Springfield interchange.

A 1994 Harley-Davidson was traveling on the westbound I-495 ramp when it struck the rear of a tractor-trailer, which caused the motorcyclist to lose control and crash in the roadway. The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike and struck by a westbound box truck. The tractor-trailer failed to stop at the scene. The box truck remained at the scene.

The driver of the box truck was not injured in the crash.

The tractor-trailer has yet to be located

Virginia State Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred this morning (July 9) in the Beltway’s Springfield Interchange.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:20 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-495 leading to southbound I-95 (Exit 170C) when a motorcycle and box truck were involved in a crash with a third unknown vehicle. The third vehicle left the scene. The motorcyclist was injured in the crash.
