Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Bailey’s Crossroads

Mason Police District- A 66-year-old man died as a result of injuries from a crash that occurred shortly before midnight yesterday near the intersection of Leesburg Pike and Payne Street in Bailey’s Crossroads. Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit have preliminarily determined that Mohammed Ishaq, of Alexandria, was crossing Leesburg Pike near Payne Street around 11:40 p.m. A 2008 Mazda 3 was traveling eastbound and hit Ishaq, who was not in a crosswalk. Ishaq was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead early this morning. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Neither speed nor alcohol were factors. 

According to our Traffic Division, countywide to date in 2019, we have had ten pedestrian fatalities, 84 injuries and 78 pedestrian- related crashes.
