Prince George’s Police detectives charged a Suitland man for sexually assaulting a woman in Suitland on Tuesday. The suspect is 39-year-old Michael Haskins of the 4000 block of Skyline Drive.

On June 11, at approximately 7:30 pm, patrol officers were called to the 4000 block of Silver Hill Road for the report of a sexual assault. When they arrived, they discovered a witness subduing Haskins at the scene. The witness had stepped in when he heard the victim screaming for help. Officers arrested Haskins on the scene.

The preliminary investigation reveals Haskins grabbed the adult female victim as she was walking. He then sexually assaulted her not far from Silver Hill Road near a footpath. The victim and suspect do not know each other.

There are no other sexual assaults reported in the area, but detectives would like to speak to anyone with information on Haskins to include whether he has committed a similar crime before. Haskins is charged with first degree rape and assault. He’s in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

Anyone with information on Haskins or this case is asked to call the Prince George’s County Sexual Assault Unit at 301-772-4908.
