Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division continue to investigate a theft from a 7-Eleven in Downtown Silver Spring and the robbery of a separate 7-Eleven in Downtown Silver Spring. Both crimes occurred in late April are believed to have been committed by the same suspect. Today, investigators are releasing surveillance photographs of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.
On April 25, at approximately 2:55 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to the 7-Eleven convenience store located at 8202 Georgia Avenue for the report of a theft that had just occurred. The investigation determined that the suspect jumped the counter, stole cigarettes, and fled.
On April 26, at approximately 3:15 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to the 7-Eleven convenience store located at 8455 Colesville Road for the report of a robbery that had just occurred. The investigation determined that the suspect entered the store and confronted a clerk. The suspect implied that he had a weapon, threatened the clerk, stole cigarettes, and fled.
Anyone with information regarding the suspect, the theft, or the robbery is asked to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5100.
