Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced an arrest has been made in the fatal stabbing that occurred on Saturday, April 13, 2019, in the 1000 block of Southern Avenue, Southeast.
At approximately 2:34 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male, suffering from multiple stab wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 46 year-old Chester Belfield, of Temple Hills, MD.
On Monday, April 22, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 58-year-old David Allen Hackney, of Capitol Heights, MD, was arrested by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF), and was charged with First Degree Murder while Armed.
