Mason Police District – Detectives have confirmed the identity of the body found in the 6100 block of Arlington Boulevard yesterday morning as 49-year-old Gilberto Mendez. Detectives are still actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Mendez’s death. Autopsy results are pending. Mendez had multiple injuries that could be consistent with a fall, but we are waiting on an official ruling for cause and manner of death from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Through our investigation, we learned Mendez did have a residence in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County.

Detectives Investigate Body Found in Alley
Mason Police District – Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau are investigating after a body was found this morning in the 6100 block of Arlington Boulevard in Falls Church. Officers found a 49-year-old Hispanic man lying unresponsive in an alley near the intersection of Arlington Boulevard and Patrick Henry Drive. Detectives have identified the man who appears to be homeless and are working to notify next of kin. The body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine cause and manner of death. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow and an update will be provided when more information is available.
