The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department’s inaugural Captain II Officer Development Academy graduated this week. The department invested a jam-packed eight training days to give this group of Captain II’s, the next generation of Battalion Chiefs and organizational leaders, additional knowledge and skills to add to their existing skillset.

Leadership, conflict resolution, tactical proficiency, building construction, administration, policy and procedure were covered over the last eight weeks. The department is building out a comprehensive, cohesive and sustainable continuum of training for our officers. This to make sure every member of the officer corps receives broad-based education and training to ensure we have effective leaders at every level of the department.
