UPDATE: Springfield Man Charged with Second Rape; Police Search for More Victims

West Springfield Police District – Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau have charged Bernard Betts-King with an additional charge of raping a woman through the use of her mental incapacity.  An investigation uncovered the victim was raped in early 2017.

Betts-King is currently being held without bond at the Adult Detention Center.

The victim was raped in early 2018 and DNA confirmed she had a child as a result. Detective’s now believe they have possibly identified a second potential victim.

Springfield Man Charged with Rape

West Springfield Police District – A 60-year-old Springfield man is facing charges for raping a woman through the use of her mental incapacity. Bernard Betts-King was arrested today by our Major Crimes detectives after an investigation found the victim had been raped in early 2018.  At the time of the assault, Betts-King was working with the victim as a behavioral specialist at the MVLE Community Center at 7420 Fullerton Road, in Springfield. He is also currently employed by Community Living Alternatives, located at 9401 Lee Highway, in Fairfax.  Both organizations have cooperated with the investigation.
