Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced an arrest has been made in reference to a homicide that occurred on Friday, January 18, 2019, in the 2700 block of Jasper Street, Southeast.
At approximately 7:39 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The victim remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The decedent has been identified as 21-year-old Travis Deyvon Ruth, of Southeast, DC.
On Thursday, February 14, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 19-year-old Elhadji Babacar Ndiaye, of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder while Armed.
