Two pedestrians killed on Pennsylvania Avenue

Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating a fatal traffic crash involving a passenger bus and two pedestrians that occurred on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, in the intersection of 7th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest.

Police said that at about 9:39 pm, a 2013 Provost H3 passenger bus was traveling northbound on 7th Street, Northwest. The passenger bus then made a left hand turn onto Pennsylvania Avenue, Northwest, striking two adult females in the crosswalk. The pedestrians were transported to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. After all life-saving efforts failed, both pedestrians succumbed to their injuries.

The decedents have been identified as 61 year-old Monica Adams Carlson of Skagway, AK, and 85 year-old Cora Louise Adams of Elbe, WA.

News reports quoted Carlson’s husband as saying that she and her mother had been in Washington to see the White House Christmas decorations.
