Pedestrian dies of injuries suffered in Germantown accident

[UPDATE 12:40 p.m.] The pedestrian injured last night in Germantown has died, police said.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department are investigating a serious collision involving a pedestrian that occurred in Germantown.

On Wednesday, at approximately 8:17 p.m., officers received a report of a pedestrian accident at Middlebrook Road and Ridgecrest Drive.

Preliminary investigation found that the pedestrian was crossing eastbound Middlebrook Road at Ridgecrest Drive when she was struck by a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta that was traveling east on Middlebrook Road.

The pedestrian, identified as Joyce Asare Brown, age 50, of Quail Woods Drive in Germantown, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Volkswagen, identified as Christian Alexander Martinez, age 20, of Emory Grove Road in Gaithersburg, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
