It’s in connection with a two-alarm fire that gutted a room at the Virginia Lodge motel on Richmond Highway in Belle Haven Monday morning. A motel employee discovered the blaze around 11 a.m. The first fire units to arrive quickly extinguished the fire in a first floor room. Most damage was contained to that room and no one was hurt.

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire and are calling the man in the pictures a “person of interest.” They describe him as 5’8” to 5’10” and 220 to 225 pounds.

The Virginia Lodge motel was in the news in late September when a man held police at bay for a number of hours after they tried to serve him with an arrest warrant. That suspect, 32-year-old Alton Thodos escaped the officers by crawling through the motel’s attic. There’s no word on whether that incident is connected to the fire.
