This is a news release from the Fairfax County Police Department, published verbatim.
Fairfax County Police are investigating after a pedestrian was hit and killed just after 6 a.m. today.
Detectives believe 63-year-old Charles Robinson, of Woodbridge, was attempting to cross Richmond Highway at the intersection with Hagel Circle. The driver of a 2009 Ford Explorer who was travelling southbound on Richmond Highway hit Robinson as he was walking in the road. There is no marked crosswalk at this intersection.
Robinson was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with detectives. Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors. At this point, no charges are expected.
Detective Grimm from the Crash Reconstruction Unit is asking for additional information from anyone that may have witnessed the crash. If you have any information, please contact 703-280-0564.
