A man is facing a homicide charge after a stabbing in the 2900 block of Charing Cross Road in the Merrifield area. Fairfax County Police responded just before 1 a.m. Wednesday and found the suspect outside the apartment building.
Jose Adalberto Vasquez Hernandez, 36, was taken into custody. Officers found Oscar Daniel Diaz Fuentes, 27, inside the apartment; he had been stabbed in the torso. Officers rendered aid and he was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Hernandez and Fuentes both lived in the apartment, and Hernandez is the boyfriend of Fuentes’ mother, investigators said. A preliminary investigation shows the two had some sort of altercation earlier in the night. Hernandez allegedly later returned and stabbed Fuentes.
