Director of Lovettsville daycare facility charged in assault

This is a news release from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office published verbatim.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office arrested the director of Heather’s Kids, LLC, following allegations that she assaulted a child that was enrolled at the day care in Lovettsville.

Heather R. Whitfield, 43, of Lovettsville, was charged today with assault and battery. The charge stems from an incident that occurred on August 24 when the child received minor injuries to his lip and arm. The family of the victim was initially told the injuries to their child were the result of an accident. The Sheriff’s Office became aware of the assault after reports were made to the Loudoun County Department of Family Services.

Members of the Special Victims Unit conducted the investigation in coordination with the Loudoun County Department of Family Services. The Virginia Department of Social Services continues to investigate the operation and licensing of the facility.

Whitfield was released on an unsecured bond from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
