Child, 6, dies after I-66 accident

Virginia State Police are investigating an accident that killed one child and left another seriously injured.

Senior Trooper D.J. Mabie is investigating the single-vehicle crash in Fauquier County. The crash occurred Oct. 14, 2018, at 12:15 p.m. on Interstate 66 at the 24-mile marker near the Route 17/55 interchange.

A 2018 BMW M3 was traveling east on I-66 when it ran off the right side of the interstate. The vehicle struck a sign post and several trees before spinning around and coming to rest against a fence.
