UPDATED 3:30 p.m.

Shortly after 10:30 a.m. this morning, Virginia State Police were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash and vehicle fire in Fairfax County.

A Volvo tractor trailer traveling southbound on I-495 was attempting to exit onto I-395 northbound when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn and catch fire. The truck came to rest on the ramp from I-495 west to I-395 north, blocking the ramp.

The driver — Derrick Cave, 35, of Barnwell, SC  — was able to escape the cab of the burning truck and suffered only minor injuries. He received treatment from medics on scene.  There were no other injuries. Cave was charged with reckless driving.

A HAZMAT team was called to the scene due to a fuel spill that resulted from the crash.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
