Fatal crash on I-66

A 21-year-old Manassas man was killed in a four-vehicle accident on I-66 early this morning. The crash, at the Nutley Street exit, caused massive rush-hour traffic back-ups throughout the Fairfax area.

Police said the 4:30 a.m. crash involved four vehicles, including three pickup trucks and a Toyota sedan. The cause and sequence of the crash remain under investigation at this time. No charges have been placed.

The driver of the Toyota, Juan Bernabe Reinaga Zapata, 21, of Manassas, died at the scene.
Two other drivers were transported to Fairfax Inova Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.
All eastbound lanes were cleared by 8:30 a.m.

Virginia State Police say at least one person was killed early this morning on I-66.

The accident happened about 4:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes at the Nutley Street exit.

One person was killed and another suffered minor injuries. No other details were immediately available.
