Reston crash leaves two dead – Police looking for witnesses

Detectives are looking for witnesses to an early morning crash that killed two people and injured two others early Sunday morning in Reston.

It happened about 2 a.m. on the Fairfax County Parkway near Walnut Branch Road. Fairfax County police believe the driver of a 2004 Acura MDX lost control of the car while traveling north on the Parkway. The car spun and left the roadway.

Tonnisha McCoy, 21, of Sterling, and Joselyn Herndon, 23, of Reston, were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people were taken to the hospital with injuries that weren’t considered to be life-threatening.

Detectives believe speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash. They say the accident investigation is complex and they’d like anyone who may have seen the accident to call them at  703-280-0564.
