Intruder shot by Centreville homeowner

A Centreville homeowner shot and wounded a man who may have been trying to break into his house early Monday morning.

It happened around 5 a.m. in the 6300 block of Fairfax National Way. Fairfax County police say they received a call for a possible burglary after the homeowner saw a man in his backyard. The homeowner confronted the man near the front porch and fired several shots. The intruder was hit twice. He’s being treated at a hospital for what are being called non-life threatening wounds.

Detectives say it doesn’t appear the homeowner and the man knew each other. They haven’t yet decided whether to place any charges.
