Gun tragedy in Alexandria leaves a teen dead

An Alexandria teenager is dead following an accident with a gun.

Fairfax County detectives say the 16-year-old was handling the firearm on a bed when it discharged. The teen was shot in his upper body.

It happened about 7 p.m. Thursday at a home in the 8400 block of Del Norte Court in Alexandria.

The vicgtim’s name was not immediately available.
