Woman struck and killed by car in Reston

Fairfax County crash reconstruction detectives are investigating a Monday morning accident in Reston in which a pedestrian was struck and killed.

It happened a little after 11:00 a.m. as a 71-year-old woman was trying to cross Reston Parkway at Bluemont Way. Detectives say the woman was hit by a 2016 Hyundai Elantra which was traveling north on the parkway. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

It’s not yet known if speed or alcohol were involved in the accident.

The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld until her family is notified.
