Mount Vernon woman accused of killing uncle

A Mount Vernon woman is facing murder charges – accused of stabbing and killing her uncle.

It happened just before 11:00 a.m. at a home in the 8000 block of Steadman Street. Fairfax County police say the stabbing occurred during an argument between Courtney Southern, 38, and his 22-year-old niece, Chardnay Southern. Detectives say the two lived together in the home with other family members.

Courtney Southern was stabbed in the upper body. He was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital. Chardney Southern was arrested shortly after the stabbing.
