High winds, dry weather bring Red Flag warnings

High winds and low humidity have resulted in a Red Flag warning for Northern Virginia, D.C. and neighboring areas through 8 p.m. Thursday. The warning means that the chance of wildfires is unusually high.

Forecasts are calling for winds gusting to 35 miles per hour with humidity readings of 20 to 30 percent.

Fire officials are asking residents to be careful with matches and avoid open fires.
