Virginia State Police are responding to crashes in both directions of Interstate 66 at the 57-mile marker in Fairfax County. That location is roughly at the Route 50 interchange.
At 3:33 p.m. Wednesday, a tractor-trailer traveling east on I-66 ran off the left side of the interstate and struck the cement Jersey wall. The impact of the crash sent pieces of the cement wall into the westbound lanes of I-66 causing a box truck and at least one passenger vehicle to crash.
One driver has been transported to Inova Fair Oaks Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The crashes remain under investigation.
