Gun report prompts short lockdown at three Fairfax schools

Two students at South Lakes High School thought they saw a student with a gun Friday afternoon. Fairfax County police said the students then did what they should – they said something to school officials.

South Lakes and nearby Hughes Middle School and Terraset Elementary School were all locked down. All of the classrooms at all three schools were searched, but no weapon was found. The lockdown was lifted around 2:30 p.m., about two hours after it began.

“Kudos to those kids who spoke up!” Fairfax police tweeted.
