Fairfax County police are continuing to investigate the death of man Monday morning at the Lorton Landfill.

Investigators say 52-year-old Guido Maldonado of Gaithersburg was killed after he was hit by a CAT Waste Handler, a large, bulldozer-like piece of equipment. The Waste Handler was backing up and pinned Maldonado between it and a tractor trailer.

Maldonado was pronounced dead at the scene with injuries to his upper body.

Police say neither speed nor alcohol appear to have been factors, but the police Crash Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate.
