Both speed and alcohol played a part in the crash in Great Falls in which two died in September, according to Fairfax County police.

The single-car crash happened the evening of September 16. Police say 26-year-old Benjamin Wenger of Annandale was driving on Beach Mill Road near Spring Vale when he ran off the road to the right. The car then crossed back across the road and hit a tree on the other side.

Wenger and a passenger, 23-year-old Abigail Ryan, of Great Falls, were pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, a 15-year-old female who was in the backseat, was seriously injured.
