Crossing crash in Clifton delays VRE trains

No one was hurt but trains were delayed for over an hour after a VRE train struck a car that stalled on the tracks in Clifton Thursday evening.

It happened around 6:15 p.m. where Main Street crosses the tracks, south of Burke Station. Fairfax County police say there were no injuries on VRE train 331 and they say no one was in the car when it was struck. Several trains were delayed until the tracks could be inspected and Main Street in Clifton was closed for about three hours.
