A jogger has died after being hit by a car in McLean Saturday afternoon.

Fairfax County police say 73-year-old Thomas Field Jr. was jogging east in the 5900 block of Chesterbrook Road around noon. As he tried to cross from one side of the street to the other he was struck by a BMW driven, in the same direction, by an 82-year-old woman. Field died at a hospital, several hours later. Police say the driver of the car remained at the scene and was not charged. They have not released her name

The second fatal crash also occurred Saturday when a sedan hit another car and overturned on the Fairfax County Parkway near Hooes Rd. The driver of the sedan, who police identify as 62-year-old Timothy Thomas of Springfield,  was killed. The other driver wasn’t hurt. Police say that speed may have played a part in this accident.
