Lorton crash leaves biker dead

Fairfax County crash detectives are trying to determine whether speed or alcohol played a part in a weekend crash that left a motorcyclist dead.

It happened around 12:30 Saturday afternoon on Richmond Highway near Mims Street in Lorton. Police say 38-year-old Nathan Lamont Reed was heading north when his cycle crested a hill and hit a pick-up truck. The pick-up was turning left and was hit on the passenger side.

Reed was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital. The driver of the pick-up wasn’t hurt.
