Lorton motorcyclist killed in crash with semi

Fairfax County police say speed may have been a factor in the crash of a motorcyclist into a semi-tractor trailer in Springfield Tuesday afternoon.

Twenty-six year old Justin Wright of Lorton died in the wreck. Detectives say that Wright was driving southbound in the 7600 block of Backlick Road when he collided with the semi, which was leaving a supply yard and turning left to go northbound. The motorcyclist was unable to stop before crashing into the rear wheels of the cab. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Backlick Road was closed in both directions for several hours as the crash was investigated.
