Fairfax County police say speed appears to have played a part in a fatal crash in Burke Tuesday night.

Shahram Johanshad, 46, of Fairfax, was killed when the 2010 Nissan Altima he was driving left the roadway and crashed into two trees. Crash Reconstruction detectives say Johanshad was traveling northbound on the Fairfax County Parkway approaching Waterline Dr. While attempting to negotiate a slight turn the Altima went off the roadway to the left, then traveled back across the highway to the right and ran off the road. The Altima came to rest after striking two trees.

It is not yet known if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
