Vandals trash elementary school in Burke

White Oaks ElementaryPolice are putting a $20,000 price tag on damage done to White Oaks Elementary School in Burke overnight Sunday.

A construction crew found the damage, inside and outside the school building, after arriving for work early Monday morning. The newly installed playground was damaged and there were also signs that someone had tried to set a fire.

Fairfax County schools are on summer recess and the school building, in the 6100 block of Shiplett Boulevard, is in the process of being rebuilt.
