Fairfax County detectives say murder and suicide are responsible for two deaths in McLean Friday afternoon.

It happened around 2:00 p.m. at a home in the 6700 block of Dean Drive. Police say they received a 9-1-1 call reporting that someone might be dead inside the house. Once inside they found the bodies of 23-year-old Helen Lorena Hargan and her mother, 63-year-old Pamela Denise Hansen Hargan. Investigators believe the daughter shot the mother and then shot herself. A 7-year-old child who neighbors thought may have been inside the home at the time of the shootings was not.
