Suspect arrested in Lorton townhouse fire

Fairfax County fire investigators have arrested a man in connection with a fire that destroyed a townhouse in Lorton in the early morning hours of May 12.

Forty-seven year old Darren William Hinzmann was taken into custody by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office in East Bradenton, Florida, Thursday. He’d been last seen a few hours before the fire, in the 8500 block of Koluder Court, and was considered to be a “person of interest.”

Investigators have charged Hinzmann with Arson of a Dwelling, Burning Personal Property Greater than $200, and Cruelty to Animals. On Friday he was being held at the Manatee County Central Jail awaiting extradition to Virginia.
