A 26-year-old Manassas woman was one of two people killed in an early-morning freeway shooting on I-95 in Richmond. Sharayne Danielle Nichole Holland, 26, of Manassas, was a passenger in a car that was struck by gunfire. Also killed was the car’s driver, Tanna D. Gardner, 23, of Richmond.

Virginia State Police say the shooting happened about 3:40 a.m. Sunday morning near Exit 75 on northbound I-95. The victims’ car, a 2017 Nissan, was traveling north when a newer model white four-door sedan pulled alongside and opened fire.

Police said there were seven passengers in Holland’s car. Gardner died at the scene and Holland was taken to the Medical College of Virginia, where she died. A male passenger in the car suffered serious, life-threatening injuries.

Police say it appears to be a targeted, rather than random, incident and they are asking that anyone who witnessed the shooting or was has information about it contact the Virginia State Police at (804) 553-3445 or #77 on a cell phone, or email questions@vsp.virginia.gov.
