Storms down trees, flood roads in Fairfax

A fast-moving line of severe thunderstorms brought heavy rain and winds to Fairfax County Thursday afternoon.

A tree, which crashed into a 4-story garden apartment in the 4300 block of Americana Drive in Annandale forced the evacuation of that building. Many roads were flooded or blocked by trees and tree limbs brought down some power lines.  Dominion Virginia Power reported about 1,800 customers without power in early afternoon.
