Unemployment down, real estate numbers up in Fairfax County

Fairfax County’s economic numbers are looking good.

Unemployment was down to 3-percent in December, a drop of 0.2-percent from the previous month.

Home sales are up, as are home prices, compared to a year ago. This past January 794 homes sold in the county compared with 743 a year earlier. That’s a boost of 6.9-percent. The average sales price of all homes that sold in January 2017 in the county was $545,772, an increase of 8.1-percent over the January 2016 average sales price of $504,805.
