Fairfax County Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the Herndon area. Officers say a 1993 Mazda 626 was found in an embankment along eastbound Hiddenbrook Drive just prior to Dranesville Road. Inside, rescue workers found 30-year-old Cory Lee Boback of Sterling unconscious and unresponsive behind the wheel.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel took Boback to Reston Hospital in life-threatening condition. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

The preliminary investigation suggests that the Mazda was stopped at the light on Hiddenbrook Drive and Dranesville Road. For reasons yet to be determined, Boback may have passed out and the car rolled backwards, down the embankment, then off the road.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy and ultimately determine the cause and manner of death.
