Pedestrian stuck and killed in Lincolnia

A woman who was struck and killed by a pick-up truck in Lincolnia Thursday evening has been identified as Waneta M. Achaj, 58, of Alexandria.

The accident happened around 8 p.m. at Little River Turnpike and Braddock Road.

Fairfax County police say the 59-year-old man who was driving the pick-up had a green light and turned right on to eastbound Little River Turnpike from Braddock Road when he struck Achaj. The woman was crossing Little River Turnpike from north to south outside of the crosswalk and was wearing a dark jacket and no reflective clothing. Achaj was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.The driver of the truck remained on scene.
