Fairfax County detectives say the shooting of a teenager early Sunday morning in Mt. Vernon does not appear to be a random incident.

It happened around 1:00 a.m. in the 6600 block of The Parkway.  Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood and conducting interviews, while technicians have been gathering evidence at the scene.

The teenager is reported to be in serious, but stable condition in the hospital.
