Man tries to set woman on fire

Lamar Thomas

A 26-year old man has been arrested and charged with trying to set a woman on fire Tuesday morning.

As Fairfax County police tell it, the 26-year old victim from Ft. Washington, Maryland went to the suspect’s home in the 2600 block of Arlington Drive to drop her 1-year old child.  The man and woman argued in the woman’s car.  He poured flammable liquid on her and tried to set it on fire, police said.  The woman jumped out of the car and ran.  She wasn’t hurt.  The 1-year-old child remained inside the car during the incident and also was not hurt.

Police arrested Lamar Thomas, a short time later, at his home. He was taken to the Adult Detention Center where he was charged with attempted malicious wounding and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
