An Alexandria woman was killed in a single-vehicle accident in Fauquier County Friday (12/23), Virginia State Police said today.

Sarah E. Weinberg, 37, was driving her 2007 Honda Fit west on I-66 at the 20-mile marker about 10:30 a.m., when the car ran off the right side of the highway and skimmed the guardrail. The vehicle then crossed over the westbound lanes and ran off the left side of the interstate and struck the guardrail.

Weinberg was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where she died later that morning. She was wearing a seat belt, police said.

The crash remains under investigation. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
