A 19-year-old Clifton youth has been charged with second-degree murder after allegedly stabbing a co-worker at an event being held at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park in Chantilly. Kempton A. Bonds, who was a Fairfax County Parks Authority seasonal employee, is accused of stabbing Tyonne D. Johns, 35, a catering employee.

Police said the two reportedly had a verbal altercation earlier in the evening. As the August 6 event came to an end, the altercation erupted again and Bonds allegedly stabbed Johns, who was pronounced dead at a local hospital where she was taken after the incident.

Police took Bonds into custody and transported him to a local police station. Major Crimes Division and Crime Scene Detectives responded and recovered a knife thought to be the weapon used in the attack. Bonds is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
